Getting Hold of Us

Call 17173269668 and you'll reach the shop, not a call center reading from a script. We're based at 201 N 2nd St, Harrisburg, PA 17101, and that's where the trucks start their day before heading out to the job. If you're closer to Uptown, Wormleysburg, or Lemoyne, you're still inside the area we run routes through daily - those are two miles out at most. We also cover Progress, Enola, Susquehanna, and Camp Hill without it being a special trip. When you call, tell us what the door is doing (or not doing) and whether it's a spring, an opener, or something with the track, since that changes what gets loaded on the truck before anyone leaves the shop.

Our services

What We Actually Do

Most of the work here traces back to the age of the housing. Homes in this part of the service area were built anywhere from 1938 to 2004, with the bulk of that stock going up in the 1960s and 70s across the named neighborhoods we cover.

Mismatched legacy hardware

That means a lot of original hardware: torsion springs sized for doors that have since been replaced with heavier insulated panels, openers from a different decade than the door they're lifting, and tracks that were never leveled for the slab underneath. We work on broken springs, cables that have jumped the drum, rollers that have worn their track grooves oval, and openers that grind, stutter, or just quit.

Winter steel contraction

Harrisburg sits in a cold climate band rated severe, which means steel track sections contract in winter and torsion springs lose tension faster than they would somewhere milder - so a door that worked fine in October can bind hard in January.

Who Turns Up

A two-story house with a white garage door and snow on the ground.

The person who answers the phone is generally the person who knows what's on the truck, which matters when you're trying to describe a sound a spring makes before it lets go. Jobs run out from the 2nd St shop through Harrisburg and into Wormleysburg, Lemoyne, Camp Hill, New Cumberland, and the other close-in areas on our list, with longer runs out to Hershey or Middletown when the job calls for it. We don't pad a visit with upsells on a door that doesn't need them - if a torsion spring repair gets you another several years out of a door from the 1970s, that's what gets recommended instead of a full replacement.

Quick answers

Straight Answers

A gray house with two gray garage doors is surrounded by autumn trees.

We're straight about what a repair can and can't do. On some of the older doors from the 1960s and 70s, replacement parts for the exact original hardware aren't made anymore, and a repair can turn into a longer wait if we have to source or adapt a part instead of swap it off the truck. In those cases we'll tell you that up front rather than string out a visit. We also won't tell you a door needs full replacement when a spring or a cable is the actual problem - across a service area with over 54,000 owner-occupied houses, most of the calls we get are a single failed part, not a dead door.

Questions

Common questions

Do you work on doors in Wormleysburg or just Harrisburg proper?

Both. Wormleysburg, Lemoyne, Progress, and Camp Hill are all within a few miles of our shop on N 2nd St and part of the area we run jobs in regularly, same as Harrisburg itself.

Why does my door act up more in the winter?

This area sits in a severe cold climate band. Steel tracks contract and torsion springs lose tension faster in cold weather, so a door that was fine in fall can start binding or grinding once temperatures drop.

Can you get parts for an older door?

Usually yes, but not always the exact original hardware. A lot of local houses went up in the 1960s and 70s, and some of that original equipment isn't manufactured anymore. If that's the case, we'll tell you before starting the job, not after.

Is a broken spring something I should try myself?

No. A torsion spring under tension can cause serious injury if it's handled wrong. Call it in and we'll bring the right size spring and tools for the job.
